Ilit Azoulay was born in Israel in 1972. She received her BFA (1998) and MFA (2010) from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem and currently lives and works in Tel Aviv-Jaffa.

Her work has been exhibited internationally in galleries and museums, including solo exhibitiona at Kunst Werke, Berlin (2014); Herzeliya Museum of Contemporary Art (2014); Rencontres d’Arles Discovery Award nominated by Quentin Bajac, Arles (2014); Andrea Meislin Gallery, New York (2011, 2013), Braverman Gallery, Tel-Aviv (2013).

Ilit has participated in group exhibitions in galleries and museums, among them: Pinakothek der Modern, Munich (2016), Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Melbourne (2015), Musée d'Art moderne de la Ville de Paris, Paris (2015), The Museum of Modern Art, New York (2015), Braverman Gallery, Tel-Aviv (2013), Andrea Meislin Gallery, New York (2013), Daimler Art Collection, Berlin (2012) and The Israel Museum, Jerusalem (2011).

Azoulay has won several awards such as the Constantiner Photography Award for an Israeli Artist, Tel Aviv Museum of Art (2011), the Israeli Culture and Sports ministry prize (2011), Mifal ha-Pais Foundation Grant (2013) and was among the finalist of the Pictet prize for contemporary Photography (2015).

Her work appears in numerous museums and private collections worldwide, including The Museum of Modern Art in New York, and Centre Pompidou, Paris. Recent publications are Finally Without End, an artist monograph (Sternberg Press, Berlin) and Shifting Degrees of Certainty, following her exhibition at KW (Spector Books, Leipzig).
